MGMA-ACMPE is Hiring a Manager, Product Development Near Englewood, CO

General Purpose:

The Manager, Product Development is responsible for leading and managing the front- and back-end development of Medical Group Management Association’s (MGMA’s) product specific software assets, including resale application products, integrated software, and innovation of digital product offerings, striving to create a cohesive digital experience for MGMA’s members and customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages a team of developers in the design and development of new enterprise products, as well as product enhancements.
  • Monitors team activities and reports on project status to management and stakeholders.
  • Leads the team in design, coding, review, and testing activities to accomplish the organization’s goals and measures results.
  • Ensures adherence to established policies and procedures to ensure integrity and quality of projects.
  • Develops standards and processes when necessary.
  • Interfaces with stakeholder and technical leads from vendors and other teams across the organization.
  • Ensures applications deployed in production perform adequately; monitors performance and recommends corrective action, as necessary.
  • Responsible for development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s software application, internal- and external-facing. This includes monitoring performance and back-end analytics.
  • Manages product application governance across the organization to include definition of user roles, privacy policies, training documents, best practices, inventory of tools being used, glossary of terms, and overall maintenance.
  • Maintains product specific application health by monitoring and ensuring repair of broken code, cleaning up errors, and monitoring load times.
  • Works collaboratively with Digital Services/IT leaders, specifically the Manager, Web Development and Manger, Application Development, to adhere to defined architecture, processes, and best practices.
  • Translates business and project needs to support technical projects from conception to implementation.
  • Provides guidance and input for new product innovation in collaboration with product owners and stakeholders.
  • Supports new initiatives and ensures the longevity and scalability of all software applications.
  • Leads and process for standard application updates and product roadmap to ensure MGMA’s digital offerings remain competitive, modernized, and up to date.
  • Leads and participates in formal Scrum and Agile methodology for development.
  • Other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization.

Supervisory duties:

  • Directly manages product development staff in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work including goal and direction setting, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of MGMA’s mission, vision and values.
  • Strong operational background, excellent client and project management skills, proven ability to contribute to leading a team, and ability to lead projects and teams.
  • Ability to facilitate effective communications, building productive working relationships both internally and externally, engaging people in participative planning and customizing the communication method for the individual and the situation.
  • Strong experience with understanding business needs and documenting requirements to aid in the process of code development.
  • Subject matter expert for development processes and documentation of system architecture.
  • Strong experience with using standard and agile life-cycle methodologies.
  • Project management experience relevant to software development, implementing IT projects, leading project teams, and managing custom software integration projects.
  • Ability to manage a dynamic staff and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing front and back end web development, including UX expertise.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong quantitative skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, IT or related field required.

Experience:

  • Five (5) or more years of experience developing enterprise-wide applications is required.
  • At least one (1) year technical and digital marketing experience is required.
  • At least one (1) year as a supervisor or team lead in a digital development environment is required.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must live in Denver or the surrounding areas and be able to commute to the corporate office as requested.
  • Must provide the necessary documentation to prove U.S citizenship, permanent residence, or a foreign nationalization with authorization to work in the United States.

  • This is a largely sedentary role, so employee must be able to remain in a sedentary position while focusing for extended periods of time throughout the workday. Position also requires occasional movement inside the office to access file cabinets, printers, etc. While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to successfully navigate scenarios requiring the following operational abilities:
  • Ability to operate PC/keyboard and other office productivity equipment
  • Ability to position self to traverse/navigate around typical office setting
  • Ability pull/push, lift, open/close, grasp/manipulate, transport up to 10 lbs.
